Reiki

Scott McGlinn is a 2nd Degree Reiki Channeler , as taught by the late Reverend Beth Gray in 1990. The word Reiki means Universal Life Energy. The Reike healing technique is the natural laying on of hands to channel the Energy in a specific pattern. It is entirely gentle and stimulates the body’s own innate wisdom to cure the cause of the problem, promoting a holistic balancing of body, mind and spirit.

Scott’s treatment lasts from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. As a channel, his hands become sensitive to the client’s needs. Both client and channel feel nurtured, balanced and vitalized. It is common for pain to evaporate, tight places to relax and waves of energy to sweep through afflicted areas aiding in the full healing of the cause, as well as the symptoms. Reiki has been known to aid in the cure of diseases as serious as Cerebral Palsy, Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Hearing and Sight Loss, Heart Disease as well as serious injury. Reiki is healing energy in the truest sense of the word, leading to greater individual harmony and attunement to the basic forces of the universe.

Holotropic Breathwork

Holotropic Breathwork is an experiential method for opening the unconscious and integrating the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual dimensions. Using breathwork as a powerful, valuable method for accessing non-ordinary states of consciousness, participants experience a deep healing of old wounds and a release of creative and spiritual energy.

Scott McGlinn, who studied under Stanislav Grof, MD Psychiatrist , accesses this non-ordinary state of consciousness using deep meditation, then powerful deep breathing techniques and evocative music, which results in an altered state of consciousness in which one’s own inner healer can function at its best. Focused bodywork is also employed to assist in releasing past, long entrenched blocks. A safe, sacred environment is provided for this all day process, where participants can accelerate and deepen their personal growth and understanding of the breathwork process. Scott will work individually for those who are more comfortable on a one to one basis, or in groups of not less than six.

Holotropic Breathwork has proven to be an effective aid in treating disorders, including addictions and family dysfunctions, going way beyond the traditional verbal exchange therapy to provide real wholeness of mind, body and spirit.

Vipassana Meditation

Vipassana Meditation is the meditative practice of mindfulness and equanimity. Scott McGlinn, trained by Jack Kornfield in 1992, teaches this form of meditation. The object of Vispassana meditation is to make clear contact with pure feeling, called mindfulness, and then to have non-interference with the feelings, called equanimity. The process is to open and feel all the feelings of the body, without trying to change them, good or unpleasant.

Most of us have unresolved matters to work out that continue to come up, call it the undigested pain of life experiences, guilt, shame or shadow work. It will continue to come up until we go through it, and then we will find for a short time that everything is peaceful and calm. Then a new layer appears and we have to work through it again, until we come to a pure and higher consciousness or understanding of the situation. The tendency to avoid problems and the feelings inherent in them is the primary basis of all mental illness. To quote Carl Jung, “Neurosis is always a substitute for legitimate suffering”.

This meditation process takes the individual into the feelings of the unresolved matter so they can be labeled, released, and moved through. It can be purifying and liberating once you are trained in it. In general, meditation also has numerous positive effects on the human body including lower blood pressure and heart rate, more restful sleep, less tension headaches, migraines, back problems and general well being.
